    Dashboard Diaries" Blog Takes New Look at an Old Road

    Travelers of Routes 5 and 20 have a new resource at their fingertips-a blog called Dashboard Diaries. Drawing from the popular "Best of the Best" pocket map published by the Routes 5 & 20 Committee, Dashboard Diaries takes a fresh look at some of the unique eateries, activities, scenic spots, and shops that stud the highway between Skaneateles and Batavia.

    And the Winner is ... Avon Geocacher Wins Routes 5&20 Contest

    The Route 5 and 20 Tourism Promotion Group has selected Tamara Phillips, a geocaching enthusiast; from Avon, N.Y. as the winner of their “Farms, Food and Fun Geocache Adventure” contest. Tamara was selected from over forty entrants who participated in the ‘Geocache Adventure’ and located at least five of the twenty caches or ‘treasure boxes’ hidden along the Routes 5 and 20 corridor from Skaneateles to Genesee County.

    Slice, Dice & Spice Make Donation to Food Link

    The culmination of an 18-month project closed with a heartwarming tribute and presentation at Lagoner’s Farmers Market on Tuesday. Anyone who is a fan of television shows Top Chef or Iron Chef can relate to the recent Slice, Dice & Spice NY Pro-Am Chef Challenge held this spring. Several chefs from the area’s top restaurants competed in a good-natured team setting, each creating a winning dish to be judged the best.

    Artists of the Genesee Valley Studio Tour moves to Spring (June 7 & 8)

    Mount Morris NY - Always willing to try something different, the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts is supporting its member artists by coordinating a spring studio tour for 2008. Scheduled for the weekend of June 7 and 8, 22 artists will open their studios in Livingston County from 10am to 5pm both days.

    Ad suggests York may be its home Though long considered the home of the earliest, commercially successful winery in the Finger Lakes, an advertisement from 1836 tells a different story. Samuel Warren, of York, Livingston County, was making and selling sacramental wine decades before 1860, when the Pleasant Valley Wine Co. was established.
