Livingston County Office of Tourism and Marketing Revamps Tourism Website

GENESEO, NY — The Livingston County Area Chamber of Commerce Office of Tourism and Marketing unveiled its website’s new look Monday., the Tourism and Marketing Office’s new, colorful site, is built on the content management system Joomla!, which allows the office’s staff the ability to change the site at any time, instead of contacting a web master to make the changes.

“If a new business opens up in the county, we can add it to our site within minutes,” said the office’s New Media Specialist, Becky McKeown. “If a photographer sends us a photo we love, it can be featured on the site immediately. In the world of tourism, it’s important to be able to keep up with changes. The new site lets us do just that.”

The website’s background features a stunning photo by Geneseo’s Larry Tetamore of the sunrise at Letchworth State Park’s Great Bend, which is also displayed on the cover of the Tourism and Marketing Office’s 2013 visitors guide. The website’s color scheme of purple and tan with hints of red and blue, plays off the sunrise’s striking purple, yellow and orange tones.

The website’s homepage also features a photo slideshow showcasing some of the county’s most beautiful attractions, like Letchworth State Park, the Genesee River, and the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail.

Visitors who wish to see all of what Livingston County has to offer can search the site through the main categories “Eat,” “Sleep,” or “Do,” as well as by town. The site is also fully integrated with google maps for ease of our visitors finding our local attractions. Additionally, the site will appear on smart phones in a simple, easy to navigate mobile friendly version.

“We’re excited to show off the new site,” said the office’s Vice President, Lisa Burns. “We hope potential visitors see the site and are wowed by our county’s natural beauty and many attractions. There’s something for everyone here—hiking, biking, fishing, shopping, historic downtowns, great food and wine—and we hope the site really showcases that in a way that’s easy for visitors to navigate.”

The site was built by Chris Williams of Escape Radius in Ithaca, while the site’s graphics were made by Cindy Harris of Harris Studios, Inc. in Fishers, NY.
